A bent tree such as Native Americans reportedly used to mark trails and significant landmarks stands on the eastern bank of the Town Branch about 50 feet from the south end of the big culvert. After heavy rain, water pouring through the culvert flows around the land the tree stands on and flows east into the wetland area where five buildings are drawn into the current plans for the Aspen Ridge development of condominiums. The site is very near the point where the Trail of Tears and the Butterfield Stagecoach Route cross.
